Like most I was initially sceptical about Soap Nuts, but I now use them regularly (I switch between using the soap nuts and the Clean Conscience Laundry Powder).
While they are called Soap Nuts, they are actually berries from the Sapindus Mukorossi tree. They contain saponin, which is a natural detergent, and they leave your washing clean and scent free.
They are simple to use, you can put them in an old sock or cut the end off an old pair of stockings and just throw them in the wash. Warm water helps the saponin release better but if you prefer to wash in cold you can make your own soap nut solution to get the best results in a cold wash cycle.
You can use the same bundle of soap nuts 4-6 times, you just hang them, in their bag or sock, out to dry when you hang the washing out.
They are very economical, environmentally friendly, safe for septic and grey water systems, non allergenic, biodegradeable and completely chemical free!
When Baby Safari closes these will be available through our new store Botanikka.
